A study of Performance Appraisal System implemented at Tata Motors

Abstract
This research was carried out to identify the techniques used by Tata Motors in performance appraisal, to understand the employee's attitude towards performance appraisal system and whether it aids in increasing the productivity of the employees or not. Performance appraisal is defined as the process of assessing the performance and progress of an employee or a group of employee's on a given job and their potential for future development. The study is about whether the Performance Appraisal System used by Tata Motors is having a positive impact on the productivity of the employees or not. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the responses of the supervisory level employees of Tata Motors, Jamshedpur. The research has taken into account the satisfaction level of the employees. It was observed that most of the employees were aware about the Performance Appraisal Process in Tata Motors and were satisfied by the Performance Appraisal System and thus is having positive impact on the productivity of the employees.
