A comparative study of the financial performance of Bata India Limited with reference to footwear Industry

Abstract
Financial analysis is the use of financial statements to analyze a company's financial position and performance, and to assess future financial performance. Financial analysis consists of three broad areas-profitability analysis, and risk analysis, and analysis of sources and uses of funds. The authors in this paper try to compare the financial performance and financial position of Bata India Ltd vis-a-vis its peers. Various liquidity, solvency, profitability and efficiency ratios have been compared between Bata India Ltd and Relaxo Footware, fv1IRZA International. Sreeleathers, Liberty Shoes, Bhartiya International and Superhouse over four financial years from 2009 -10 to 2012-13. The results indicate thatBata India Ltd ranks highest in the industry in terms of over all financial performance and financial position during the study period.
