Abstract
In the mid-2000s, the Indian cricket ecosystem stood at a
crossroads. Traditional formats—Test cricket and One-Day
Internationals—had loyal audiences, but viewership was becom

capture attention. The Indian cricket board sensed an opportu
nity to rethink how cricket could be consumed, commercialized,
and experienced.
